A man wrecks into a TRAX train after running a red light at the intersection of West Temple and 700 South Tuesday, March 27, 2012. KSL News reports that a man driving a Honda Accord ran a red light and was hit by a TRAX train on the driver’s side of the car. The impact caused the man to be trapped in his vehicle. Emergency crews responded to 911 calls and were able to free the man from the wreckage by cutting away the door and roof of the vehicle. The man was taken to the hospital in serious, but not fatal condition. The driver of the TRAX train is on administrative leave while the accident is investigated.
I wish this man a quick recovery.
We are definitely seeing a lot of accidents involving TRAX trains and vehicles. It is very important for individuals who are driving to pay close attention to traffic signals. It appears that drivers are becoming more and more distracted. As a Salt Lake accident attorney, I would counsel individuals to use more caution when on our Utah roads. It’s better to be too cautious than not cautious enough.
