Centerville Woman Passes Away From Car Accident Injuries

Kathy Free, 53 was involved in an accident that turned fatal early Sunday March 4, 2012, when her vehicle drifted off the road into the median. According to The Salt Lake Tribune, Free was traveling northbound on I-15 towards Millard County when her vehicle veered to the left. It then entered the median and rolled multiple times before coming to a stop in the left lane of southbound I-15 near Scipio, Utah. Free was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident and was thrown from her car as it rolled. She passed away from her injuries. She was reported to be the only person in the car. The conditions of the road were said to be clear.

I send my condolences to her family in this tragedy.

As a Utah accident attorney, I know that accidents do happen. Yet I wonder if there would have been a different outcome if Ms. Free had her seat belt on. I’m pretty sure, though, she wouldn’t have been ejected from her car if she was safely restrained.
