Highway 40 was shut down for over 30 minutes on August 31, 2012, when a 24-year-old man from Roosevelt driving a Chevy pickup drove into oncoming traffic and crashed head-on into a Dodge pickup truck carrying a 28-year-old man from Colorado and a 32-year-old woman from South Carolina. According to the Deseret News, the crash caused the Chevy to roll onto its roof and sent the Dodge off the road. All three persons involved are said to be injured and were taken to Ashley Regional Medical Center for treatment.
I send my best wishes for a quick recovery to all those involved in this crash.
Legally speaking, motorists are required to keep their vehicles under control and not drive head-on into oncoming traffic. Based on the report, it sounds like the driver of the Chevy truck was primarily responsible for this crash happening and would be liable for injury and property damages claims that may be made against him.
